About Cy

CyPhillipsinFramedHouseSmallest.jpg

A Realtor since 2007, I am a member of the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors (DMAAR) specializing in single family residential properties in the Des Moines western suburbs including Waukee, West Des Moines, Clive, Urbandale, Johnston, Des Moines, Polk City, Grimes and beyond. I earned the 2008 DMAAR Rookie of the Year award by selling more residential real estate than any other first-year agent in the Des Moines area. And, I outpaced the average Des Moines area agent by 500 percent (I sold 31 listings in 2008; the average was 5.4).

Originally from northeast Arkansas, I relocated to Iowa in 2002 to attend the University of Iowa, where I was a member of the football team. I played on two Big Ten championship teams and also participated in four bowl games. I received my bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of Iowa and also earned an entrepreneurial certificate from the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center.

I believe that education is a lifelong venture and strive to stay ahead of the constant changes in real estate. To that end, I have earned many professional real estate designations including:
GRI-Graduate Real Estate Institute
CRS-Council of Residential Specialist
SRES-Senior Real Estate Specialist
CREN-Certified Real Estate Negotiator
CHMS-Certified Home Marketing Specialist
E-Pro-Certification for Internet Professionalism

In my spare time I enjoy volunteering as a coach for Sacred Heart Catholic Church’s 7th grade football team and volunteering for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. My wife Meighan and I live in Waukee with our two small Jack Russell Terriers, Bridget and Lily.

I would love the opportunity to help you with any and all of your Real Estate needs! I look forward to meeting you and earning your business.

Realtor, ReMax Opportunities Inc., Urbandale, IA 50323
Background: I was raised in a town of 60 people in northeast Arkansas. I ended up in Des Moines via a football scholarship at the University of Iowa and Hillcrest dorm romance with my wife.

Notable achievements: I was recently named Rookie of the Year by the Des Moines Area Association of Realtors. The collegiate achievement of which I am most proud was when I was named to the Academic All Big Ten team.

Why I do what I do: I honestly enjoy and take great pride in helping my clients find the right home.

The most rewarding part of my job is that my wife and I now count many of my clients as great friends.

What I do to get away from work: I love to take our puppies for a long walk around the neighborhood. If it's not too cold, my wife might even come.

Words to live by: Good enough never is.

Best business book I've read lately: "The Go-Giver" by Bob Burg and John David Mann.

The best place in central Iowa to entertain clients or colleagues: Latin King restaurant.

One thing I would change about the Des Moines area: Sub-zero temperatures.

What Iowa can do to attract more people like me: Continue the growth initiatives that have made this city great, attract best-in-class employers and provide excellent live-work-play amenities throughout the city and state.

My leadership philosophy: Work every day to be the type of man my dogs think I am.

If I could do something else: I would be a dentist or an astronaut.
